This project aims to identify and develop novel models of planning, financing, and governance of urban water services based on Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) approach. Currently, three specific interventions are being implemented in collaboration with SDSG and CTD in different parts of Gurugram (Sukhrali, Shantinagar, and Ghata watershed) to account for different aspects of urban water cycle including rainwater harvesting, run-off management measures, and reuse of grey water in residential areas.
An interdisciplinary team is working with local communities, urban local body (MCG), NGOs and other grassroots organizations to institute group enterprises, capacity building, scaling up and replication using a multi-stakeholder platform (Gurgaon Water Forum). The project also aims to demonstrate how systems approach and creating a consortia of partners and collaborators can facilitate diffusion of new technologies for the scientific management of water resources and water governance in cities.
